How to get to Sumberkima Hill Retreat Bali

Sumberkima Hill is located pretty much as far as you can be from the Airport while still being on Bali. Located about three hours from Canggu and four hours by car from the Airport, it’s definitely worth the drive. The roads up to north Bali are incredibly scenic and there are many points of interest you can stop at including many waterfalls!

Sumberkima Hill will easily arrange pickup for you at the Airport, or if you’re a bit crazy like us, you can always take a scooter! We cut the journey in half by stopping by Munduk for a few nights. Trying to do the whole 150km in one drive is not recommended if you’re on a scooter.

What to Expect at Sumberkima Hill Retreat

From the moment you step into Sumberkima Hill Retreat, you feel (and are!) miles away from everything you previously knew about Bali. Far from the hustle & bustle of Ubud or Seminyak, Sumberkima Hill Retreat feels like a hidden oasis where the atmosphere breathes serenity and calmness. Even though there are almost 30 villas on the property, you often feel like you are alone.

The best part is, Sumberkima Hill is located in a microclimate which makes it hot and dry all year long. It rarely every rains here as you’ll notice by the dry and arid terrain surrounding the retreat.

Nestled at the top of Sumberkima Village, at the border of West Bali National Park, the villas are strategically placed and built in order to conserve privacy and optimize views. Most importantly, you can choose from an array of villas with sunrise, sunset, ocean or volcano views. Each villa has a capacity going from 2 to 11 people. Above all, each villa at Sumberkima Hill either has a private pool or access to an amazing shared pool. It’s proximity from Bali’s neighbouring island of Java makes for incredible vistas over 3 of Java’s volcanoes.

Most tourists don’t make their way to the North-Western tip of Bali. In other words, this whole region is still relatively untouched compared to most places in Bali. The retreat is a 3h drive up from Canggu or 4 hours from Denpasar Airport. Sumberkima Hill Retreat is a great place to spend a few days relaxing and resourcing during your Bali adventure.

We had the immense pleasure of staying in three different villas that all had very distinctive feels. Our personal favorite is called El Nido, perched at the very top of Sumberkima hill with incredible sunset views and beautiful design. We’re just about ready to move in!

Amenities at Sumberkima Hill

While you’re there, you’ll want to dine at one of the two delicious restaurants serving up fresh food with so many good vegetarian options. Suma restaurant boasts freshly homemade sourdough bread and a great assortment of food. It is sure to become a go-to during your stay. Their second restaurant, Senja, is the perfect place to wind down with a drink while watching the beautiful sunset over Java’s Volcanos. Both restaurants offer room service, which we took full advantage us because with the views we had, we didn’t want to leave our villas!
