Our Bali trips are made for those craving an adventure, wanting to discover a beautiful destination far away from their comfort zone. There are endless possibilities of things to see and to just on the main island which can make it can be hard to know where to start, especially when your time is limited.

If a trip is cancelled on our end, whether for lack of travellers or instability in the destination, all of your money will be refunded.

For all of our expeditions, the following cancellation policies apply:

  • A fee of 10% of the total price of the trip is charged for a cancellation within 30 days of the date of receipt of the deposit.
  • A fee of 25% of the total price of the trip is charged for a cancellation within 90 days of departure.
  • A fee of 50% of the total price of the trip is charged for a cancellation within 60 days of departure.
Due to exchange rate variations, Mapping Expeditions retains the right to increase the price of the expedition in the event of a change of more than 7% to applicable exchange rate.

YES! We want to make sure to ensure an optimal group travel experience and have limited the space for our next trips to 12 people. This group size will not be exceeded under any circumstance. There is also a minimum group size which is necessary for the trip to take place. This minimum group size varies from 5-8 people. If this minimum isn’t reached, the trip may be cancelled.

Absolutely! If you’re in or around Montreal we can organize an appointment in person to discuss any questions you may have. We can also set a Skype or Facetime call.

Double occupancy is offered for couples or friends who want to have some privacy. Multiple occupancy varies between double private rooms and small dormitories depending on the accommodation availabilities and group size.

Flight tickets are not included as want to give everyone the maximum flexibility when visiting Bali with us.

When we visited Bali for the first time we decided to stay much longer than expected and we want to make sure you also have the opportunity to customize your itinerary. This also allows travellers to book their flights with their own credit card to benefit from insurance, accumulated points and leave for Bali from anywhere in the world.

We recommend using platforms such a Google Flights or Skyscanner which is what we always use to find the best prices. Both these sites have functions to track prices on particular dates using email updates and if you have flexible dates, you can try searching through the monthly calendar to find the best possible itinerary.

Once you’ve booked your trip, we’ll send you our personal recommendations for guesthouses and hotels in the areas where the trip will begin. Don’t hesitate to send us your flight dates and we’ll do our best to find you an awesome spot while you wait for the rest of us to arrive.

The Indonesian Rupiah is the currency used in Bali. Check out current exchange rates here!

We recommend calculating 10 USD for each meal which is not included in the trip and an additional 200-250 USD of spending money to treat yourself to some souvenirs, a relaxing massage or some additional surf lessons!

We suggest arriving with some local currency (50-100$) to cover your personal expenses for the first few days. ATMs can be unreliable or empty in more remote areas of Bali, but we’ll always let you know which ones to use. You can get money out using a credit card or debit card on the Cirrus network.

You DO NOT need to pay for a Visa when visiting Bali for 30 days or less, just head directly for customs upon landing. If you plan on staying longer than 30 days, you will need to purchase a two month Visa upon arrival at Denpasar international airport.

Proof of travel insurance is mandatory for participating in the trip.

Many credit cards offer comprehensive travel insurance for trips up to 21 or 28 days, we recommend checking with your financial institution.

For travellers living outside of Quebec (Canada), check out World Nomads. For travellers from Quebec, we opt for Clic Assure to compare many different packages at once.

The recommended vaccines for Indonesia are tetanus, typhoid, hepatitis A and hepatitis B. The government will also require a proof of yellow fever vaccination if you are traveling from a country with risk of yellow fever (see list of countries with risk of yellow fever transmission).

If you plan on travelling to other areas of Indonesia than the ones included in your trip with us, you should consult a health clinic.

Bali is a popular hub for people who work online and as such, has pretty amazing wifi almost everywhere you go! Almost all cafes, restaurants and our accommodation will have free wifi, so you won’t need to purchase a SIM card for your trip. If you do want to be connected at all times, getting internet on your phone is very cheap in Bali (about 10$ for 5-7gb of data)

The minimum age required to participate in our expeditions is 18.

Yes, due to the organisation required on our end, trip bookings will be closed 30-60 days before departure.
